Abstract

The subjects were 65 males, between 20 and 25 years old, of above-average physical ability (students of the Faculty for Physical Culture). The characteritics of anthropometric ststus, the functional status of the oxygen transport system, and the diameteres of the heart, from which the volume of the heart was computed, were recorded. The results showed that statistically significant prediction of the basic indicators of lung capacities, the submaximum heart rate, the dimension of basal metabolism, the maximum strain and energy expenditure under that strain, the maximum oxygen debt and ventilation, and the level of aerobic energy tempo during anaerobic physical strainon the basis of heart dimensions was possible.
