Abstract

The research into the latent structure of flexibility was carried out on a sample of 222 female students aged 19 to 25 at the University of Ljubljana. The hypothetical space of flexibility was defined by 15 motor tests of flexibility, the results of which were obtained by the direct measurement method (angular measures). The fatten structure was analyzed by the classical procedures of factor analysis, using both the less stringent Kaiser-Gutlman (GK) criterion and the amore restrictive Štalec-Momirović criterion (PBC) to determine the number of salient latent factors. It was not possible to adopt a hypothesis on the topological definition of the latent structure of flexibility since only the existence of flexibility at the hip joint was proved. For further study of flexibility, we recommend angular measures which are only to a lesser extent saturated by the influence of the morphological body characteristics of the subjects.
