Abstract

On a sample of 90 young rowers research has been conducted to determine relations between general motor abilities and conative characteristics, and the success in rowing. The criterion variable was performance on the rowing ergometer. It was determined that the battery of 13 motor and 10 psychological variables explain, with statistical significance, 50 % variability in sports success. Only two variables, however, the drawing of the weight by hands and the motive of sports performance, indicate a significant correlation with the criterion. They account for 39.12 % of the total of 50 % of the explained variability. (MVTR 21.55, PSPP 17.57).
