Abstract
One of the dominant themes in the modern economy is the topic of digital business transformation. Although this topic has been present for some time, recent health problems and the COVID-19 virus pandemic have made it even more important. This paper discusses the complexity of the relationship between key determinants of organizational success such as: digital business transformation, business model innovation, and an ambidextrous organizational culture. It is known that one of the pillars of innovation is the organizational culture that encourages employees to create and adopt innovations. The first research question of this paper is what are the relationships between the variables of digital transformation, business model innovation and business results. Another research question examines the impact of the values of ambidextrous organizational culture on these relationships. The scientific contribution of the paper consists of creating a conceptual model of the impact of exploration and exploitation on digital transformation, business model innovation and business results. The basic goal of the paper was to study the available literature to come up with a model that defines the relationships between the studied variables and can be the basis for further quantitative research. The paper uses a positivist approach in which the most important of the many factors that can influence the dependent variables are offered, and the method of deduction is expected to further explore these claims. The paper is structured as follows: first, the research concept is briefly presented and then the key dependent and independent research variables are defined. In the continuation of the paper, the notion of organizational ambidexterity with its key components is defined and the role of exploitation and exploration as values of organizational culture is described. The variables of exploration and exploitation are first described through the concept of ambidextrous organization as sources of competitiveness of organizations, while then through the concept of ambidextrous organizational culture, cultural values that can be associated with a particular concept are described. In the last part of the paper, a conceptual model that states the relationships between the presented variables is presented.
