Abstract

In the first part of the article the author presents some fundamental presumptions of this problem: what is the flexibilisation of work, what forms can it and should it take, what are the advantages and negative aspects of flexibilisation as such, how can it influence various economic and social issues. Apart from that, using data obtained in the research, the author attempts to evaluate the project of flexibilisation keeping in mind the current situation in Croatia, on the economic and social plan and in particular mentality and general expectations. Naturally, the research itself can direct efforts towards »positive flexibilisation« which will have not only economic and social aspects in mind but will also reflect upon ethical criteria. In the second part, the article considers new forms of solidarity in Croatian society, particularly opportunities for new solidarity that are hinted at in the research. This refers to those forms of solidarity that are indivisibly connected to increasing flexibility of the labour market. In the third part, the article analyses some influences that flexibilisation and new solidarity have on the family, unemployed, living standards but also the role of politics in that process.
