Implementation of the ACSOL® wastewater treatment system in the agglomerations within the Krk EU project

Abstract
The paper provides an overview of the EU Project of wastewater collection, sewerage and treatment of the island of Krk, including a presentation of the project’s scope and involved stakeholders, current status of works and to-date deviations from the host contracts. A special emphasis is given to the description and implementation of the patented ACSOL® wastewater treatment technology, which is a new technology in Croatia, and its comparative advantages over conventional technologies. A detailed description of the operating principle of the technology’s central element, the patented Soliquator® settling unit, is also provided.
