NDT METHODS APPLICATION IN PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE OF TECHNICAL SYSTEMS

Abstract

This paper gave a historical development and short overview of maintenance activities, policies and concepts. Advantages of non-destructive testing methods as a part of Condition Based Maintenance policy are described. Criteria for feasibility of Condition Based Maintenance strategies are defined. Special emphasis is putted on Ultrasound (Airborne) and Infrared Thermography in maintenance of electrical equipment, with examples or real life measurements and recommendation for further maintenance actions.
