Abstract

Pediatric hypertension has a profound effect on later life by increasing the risk for future cardiovascular events. With it’s growing prevalence, mostly because of the obesity epidemic, it has become a public health problem. As an attempt to raise awareness of pediatric hypertension and to provide practical guidelines on diagnosis and treatment of arterial hypertension in children and adolescents, in 2019 our national guidelines were published. This review focuses on selected parts of the guidelines including definition and clasiffication of hypertension, blood pressure measurement techniques and therapeutic approach to pediatric hypertension.
