Abstract

The predictor group of 7 specific “school” measures with the goal to establish the influence on the basic posture of the pupils at developing age has been applied on a sample of 240 11 to 14 year-old male and female pupils of the elementary school “Dobri” in Split.
The predictor group of 7 specific “school” measures explains the influence on the basic posture and its possible deviations, and on the basis of the predictor group the influence on the appearance of paramorphic changes of the spine can be predicted.
The results obtained from this research quite adequately explain the function of a complex mechanism responsible for the etiology of paramorphic changes of the spine in children at developing age under the influence of a (too)heavy school bag.
At the same time the results oblige all the factors (the manufacturers of school equipment, pedagogical professional services, creators of the school syllabuses, as well as pupils, their
parents and teachers) that are in any way responsible for the healthy growth and development of the children and young to ensure a system of preventive measures to protect such a delicate organ as the spine of young people.
