Abstract
The canonization of Charles de Foucauld, which is to take place on May 15, 2022, has prompted the author to engage in research into the mission of the spiritual daughters of Charles de Foucauld — The Little Sisters of Jesus. Seeing as literature in the Croatian language on the Brotherhood of the Little Sisters of Jesus is scarce, and that there are almost no written traces available to the public on their activity in the Zagreb Archdiocese, it was precisely this topic that entered into the framework of the research. Sociodemographic data on The Little Sisters who lived and worked in Zagreb (Gornja Dubrava, Trnje, Donja Dubrava, Travno) and Karlovac from 1975 until today has been gathered with the aim of identifying the main tasks of their mission. An analysis of relevant data (religious name of the sister, country of birth, time spent in the community, activities) and archival documentation allows for the conclusion that the dimension of mission activities of The Little Sisters of Jesus is characterized by internationality, the missionary spirit, their presence in the peripheries and by volunteer work. Research results demonstrate that the charism of the Brotherhood is closely tied to the recent incentive by Pope Francis to invite the Church to go to the peripheries and to live a Universal Brotherhood.
