Abstract

In many countries roundabouts have provided an indispensable solution to traffic intersections for years. Less accidents and relatively large road capacity in reference to classical intersections are the main reason for the popularity of roundabouts. A need for this kind of solution arose in town Virovitica, at the intersection of Zbor Narodne Garde, Bilogorska and Vukovarska streets. According to the future city development plans goods traffic and traffic in general are planned to be baned from the center of the town and that is why this circular intersection is so important. In this paper the basic characteristics of the existing crossroad and the conceptual design of roundabout are presented.
