Abstract

The paper describes the procedural 3D modelling and visualization of urban 3D models of buildings, that is, only one part of them – the roofs, because the diversion of roofs can be performed by parametrization or procedural modelling. Until now, various types of roofs have been performed by changing parameters, and in this paper we provide suggestions for direct changes within the script for various simple and complex types of roof constructions. This automatically shortens the modelling time in any software, because ultimately it is about modelling not only roofs but entire cities, so shorter modelling time is very important for users who expect geovisualization of entire cities to take place in real time. This is examined in the CityEngine software, which is based on procedural modelling and is mainly used to create 3D content of urban areas and applied to 3D modelling of urban areas. First, all the necessary data, which are available in open access on the Internet, and the attributes of the roofs for modelling were collected. At the end, the final results of the generated 3D model are published in CityEngine WebScene, as well as an analysis of the time required to model several types of roofs within the 3D model.
