Abstract

In this paper, an analysis of the influence of the shadow on the photovoltaic module is given. Special emphasis is placed on the negative consequences of shading on the photovoltaic module and on mitigating them using bypass diodes. A PV model was developed in the Matlab – Simulink software package, and the model results were validated by measurements on a laboratory setup. To show the mentioned influences, the I – V and P – V characteristics were recorded for different shaded scenarios, with connected and disconnected bypass diodes.
