Abstract

International labor standards include the content of the ILO Convention no. 190
(2019) on the eradication of violence and harassment in the world of work and the
content of ILO Recommendation no. 206 (2019) on the eradication of violence and
harassment in the world of work. The framework content of these documents refers
to human rights, dignified work, suppression of discrimination (equality between
men and women) and safe working conditions. When the Convention is ratified,
it becomes part of the legal system of the Republic of Croatia and has legal force
above the law. In addition to immediate application, it is necessary to harmonize the
existing and adopt new legislation on the prevention of violence and harassment in
the world of work, in order to regulate as comprehensively as possible specific and
applicable issues, relationships and jobs or higher standards for combating violence
and harassment in the world of work, and to determine measures for exercise and
protection of regulated rights. The Croatian Parliament should pass a law on the
ratification of the Convention and the acceptance of the Recommendation and thus
confirm the determination of the Republic of Croatia for “zero tolerance to violence
and harassment”.
