Abstract

Map graphics is a typical way of presenting spatial information on a plan or map. 1n the sense of symbol theory or semiotics, it can be understood as a special system of signs. The map graphics of Croatian cadastral plans has been changing on the basis of the collections o] cartographic signs published in 1820, 1865, 1930, 1953 and 1976. Modem digital procedures in the production of cadastral plans pose new demands on map graphics. The paper presents and analyses some of the examples of various map graphics on cadastral plans. All experiences of manufacturers, user needs, as well as the rules and regulations of the profession should be taken into consideration in preparing the new Collection of Cartographic Signs. This year a new committee has been elected for this purpose with the State Geodetic Administration.
