Abstract

Producing maps for spatial and urban planning has always been one of the main geodetic activities. The development of new technologies has brought about new ways of collecting, archiving, processing and presenting spatial data. Photogrammetry, remote sensing and GIS have provided the ideal basis for combining the new technologies with knowledge and tools for higher quality standards in map production, assisted with strong data basis. The emergence of high resolution satellites, new techniques of stereo viewing and the already accepted GIS offer new possibilities. This article deals with the existing as well as with potential uses of the technologies.
