Abstract

Presented are the research results of comparing two methods, levelling and photogrammetric, for determination of the altitudes of detail points. Plain region of Binježevo with 490 detail points served as a test polygon for this research, because it consists of many different terrain details (inhabited and industrial zones, agricultural fields, roads, railroads, rivers, etc.). The research was made for different types of points (lime-marked points, points of chosen objects, terrain locality points), with different lengths of stereoscopic base, different flying heights and during various periods of time. The results of statistical analyses proved that as to mean errors, photographing in nice weather involves half of the expected (theoretical) number. The conclusion of the research is that the photogrammetric method is good enough for lime-marked points and terrain points, because level rods are set directly on such points. For the points on the objects, a better way is to use the method of detail levelling. Besides the correctness of the height measurement of detail points, it would be necessary to respect the economy and the work conditions which are present by using the chosen method.
