Abstract

The paper discusses the meaning of speech, rhythm, and movement in the
early learning of German. It specially emphasises the fact that early learning of
a foreign language needs to be organised in a way that involves different sensory
experiences, movement and rhythmic elements, paying attention to selecting
adequate teaching materials and the exchange of different activities, which take
into account the comprehensiveness of children’s cognitive skills and their ability
to use all the senses in discovering the world. Following the theoretical part, the
paper brings and elaborates exercises that especially refer to adopting new words
and the correct pronunciation of specifi c sounds in German, intonation, auditory
perception. All this is done in a playful by way of using movement and rhythm.
