Abstract

Publishing the entire content of a diary written by a girl student in Zagreb at the beginning of the 20th century is a small contribution to an account of the daily life, lifestyle, habits, social relations, culture and desirable behavior models of a young girl and her middle-class family in the Croatian society over one hundred years ago. The Archival Collection of the Croatian School Museum includes two diaries of Ljubica Ilakovac, a student of the Lycée for Girls in Zagreb that she attended between 1907 and 1914. Both will be published in their entirety. In addition to the introduction and notes, this paper includes a transcript of the first diary of the lycée student Ljubica Ilakovac, dating back to 1908 when she was 12 years old.
