Abstract
The paper describes the measurement of the calibration baseline of the Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb used for testing of electro optical distance meters by means of GPS devices. It were measured with four GPS receivers Trimble 5700 on the baseline near Lučko, and thus the distances between the baseline pillars have been determined. Apart from that, there were the differences determined between the distances measured with two pairs of GPS and of precise electronic distance meter Leica TC 2003 which were before determined.
In order the remove the influence of GPS-antenna eccentricity, the observations were made with the antenna directed northwards, and by replacing the positions of GPS antennas at the stations. The difference of thus determined distances and the distances measured with precise electronic tacheometer was at the distance of 100 m 0.1 mm, at 500 m 0.3 mm, and at 1000 m 0.1 mm. As it can be seen, these differences are very small, and they were determined by measuring in two completely independent ways. This is at the same time the check procedure showing that the two measurements have been correctly performed, The air temperature has got slight influence on GPS measurements, and for that GPS measurements are very good independent checking procedure indicating that the frequency on distance meter has been measured correctly, as well as the air temperature and air pressured at the calibration baseline during precise measurements with Leica TC 2003. It is true that GPS measurements require much more time than the measurements with precise electronic tacheometer TC 2003. Besides, these measurements are very good checking procedure for working of GPS devices, as well as of software with witch that the measurements were processed and at the same time conformation that with them it is possible obtain good results of measurement.
