Abstract
Acute pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas that is clinically characterized by severe abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, combined with
elevated serum digestive enzymes. The etiology of pancreatitis in children differs from adult patients with predominance of abdominal trauma (23%) and pancreatobiliary anomalies (15%) while in almost 25% of cases, the etiology remains unknown.
