Abstract

The article presents and analyses the guidelines for the formation of catechists. The important elements of catechist formation are explored with reference to the third and the fourth chapter of the first part of the Directory for Catechesis. Using the method of text analysis, the main criteria of that formation, its structure and actualization in the present context are highlighted, analysed and interpreted. Given that the formation of catechists is a dialogic process, it is compared to a laboratory in which we strive to discover appropriate solutions for the current challenges in catechesis. In the first part of the article, the main elements of the formation of catechists are established, presented and partly analysed, and in the second, the guidelines addressed to those responsible for catechesis are highlighted. Finally, several examples of catechist formation in countries in the neighbourhood are presented.
