Abstract
SUMMARY
Contraception is a topic that for decades occupying the population. Various
contraceptive methods are likely exsist as the human, but over the centuries been the
topic that was not discussed in public. The aim of this study was to examine the
knowledge of women about contraception and their use in the gynaecology outpatient
clinic. It was using a questionnaire, which contained main sections with questions about:knowledge of patients about contraceptive methods, personal experience, present
and possible side effects of contraceptive methods that patients now being used and
demographics of participants in research. Participans number is 123.Contraception
used 29,2% of the patients, most commonly condom 48,6 %. Half of the respondents,
43,09% said that previously consulted with a doctor and 51,2 % do not know that
smoking is a contraindication to the use of oral contraceptives. Results show need for
health educational interventions on topics:explanation of the menstrual cycle, hormonal
contraceptive therapy, posibillity of side effects and education about the postcoital
contraceptive pills. It is necessary to intensify the fingering of the danger of smoking in
women's population. Nurses who are sufficiently educated in the field of contraception
can assume the role of educator and impose their knowledge, experience and skills in
conducting health education, in health care facilities, as well as in educational
institutions at all levels.
