Abstract

The snakeshead lily (Fritillaria meleagris L.) is widespread in central, northern, and eastern Croatia and in several isolated localities on Velebit Mt. and in the vicinity of Sinj. It is considered a characteristic species for moist continental grasslands, which are an increasingly endangered type of habitat. The status of the species has been assessed as vulnerable (VU) on a global level, as well as in Croatia. F. meleagris is included in the Red Book of the Vascular Flora of Croatia and strictly protected under the
Nature Protection Act. Regarding the threat of the species, all known sites play an important role in its protection, as well as information about the population dynamic. Therefore, this article presents an overview of information collected during 13 years of monitoring in the Požega-Slavonska County.
