Application of symmetrical components to three-phase transformer maintenance testing

Abstract
Three-phase transformer testing using three-phase excitation with threephase measurements and symmetrical component analysis can detect and locate shorted turns, turn ratio errors, and anomalous losses. Such determinations are made based on one test and do not require references to the factory or earlier test results.
