CONTRIBUTION TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY OF THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA - THE RIJEKA TRAFFIC DIRECTION

Abstract
With discovery of America in 1492 the Mediterranean region stops being the source of further economic development. However, this territory maintains attractiveness due to fundamental cultural and economic sources of world civilization. A great number of ports is being developed in Mediterranean region, but just minority of them takes more important position in the world system of ports. A great number of ports operates at the East Adriatic cost. Some of them are completely new, and some very old. In business world some of them managed to impose the necessity of their using, and some suceed in no way. Investigating the causes of failures, of concretely the Rijeka port, it appears comprehension that subjective influence did not use positive objective circumstances.
