Abstract

Nanotoxicology is a new scientific discipline which deals with harmful effects of nanomaterials on human health and the environment. Because of their special characteristics, particles of a small diameter and a big area in comparison to microparticles have special toxycokinetic and toxicologic characteristics. Classical methods of toxycokinetic and toxicologic research are often not appropriate for the investigation of nanomaterials; therefore, considerable efforts are required to predict their special physicochemical and toxicologic characteristics. Numerous projects all over the world are in progress to choose and prescribe methods for investigating the impact of nanoparticles on human health. In this paper, it will be shown that there are numerous dilemmas, and even misconceptions in this area, so at least several years will pass before it
becomes well defined.
