Abstract

Modern travelers are no longer just seeking traditional sunny destinations or cultural tours, they strive for unique experiences that have the potential to transform their perception of the world and their own abilities. In this context, new specific forms of tourism have emerged, including extreme tourism, adventure tourism, and the latest venture of modern technology - space tourism. Space tourism represents a revolutionary phase in the travel industry, combining technological advancement, an adventurous spirit, and exploratory curiosity. It offers travelers a unique experience that will forever change their perspective on space and human possibilities. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the conceptual definition of space tourism, analyze the development process and key characteristics of space tourism, identify the risks, and consider Croatia's potential as a possible destination in this industry. For the purpose of this paper, the method of document analysis and the method of analysis and synthesis were applied. In conclusion, this paper provides insights into the dynamics and perspectives of space tourism as a growing branch of the tourism industry, within which space becomes an accessible destination for all who dream of exploring the farthest frontiers.
