Abstract

The goal of this research was to thoroughly and precisely define the term transfer in the context of its connection with the salary of football players. The basic contractual and legal norms that clubs and players themselves must respect during transfers have been defiend. Professional and amateur football and their functioning are explained, as well as transfers in both competition systems. The transitional periods in which transfers and transitions from one club to another are possible are determined, and the biggest football transfers in the world and in Croatia are investigated and compared, including the role and influence of the most successful managers (agents) in football. Transfer fees, types of transfers, the highest paid footballers in the world, and the positioning of Croatian footballers within these frameworks are presented.
