Abstract

eChart and Health Portal are upgrades to the Central Health Information System of the Republic of Croatia (CEZIH), which enable the storage and access to comprehensive health data of individual patients. eChart is a structured collection of a patient's health data stored within CEZIH. It enables better coordination of healthcare among different healthcare institutions and facilitates patient diagnosis and treatment. It enables healthcare professionals to make relevant health related decisions for a specific patient more quickly, freeing the patients from the need to collect and carry extensive paper medical documentation. On the other hand, the Health Portal within the e-Citizens system, provides citizens with easy access to their health data via the internet and a mobile application. Users can view information about prescribed medications, outpatient visits, diagnostic test results, etc. The transparency and control over data access rights and the usefulness of the available functionalities within the Health Portal have resulted in its high usage since its implementation until today.
