Abstract

Digital media are not only means that enable faster and more efficient communication, but in them, we recognise a new communication space and new communication paradigms, which all influence the formation of new ways of communication. These changes, which should be observed in the broader context of today's man's postmodern environment, encourage reflection on a new (digital) anthropology. A prerequisite for speaking about such anthropology is knowledge of the basic characteristics of digital media. Therefore, the author presents the fundamental characteristics of the virtual space, the changes that take place in it by changing ways of experiencing place and time, and new ways of establishing relationships between people and shaping community. New ways of participation and socialisation, the understanding of physicality, and the computerisation of all aspects of life are challenges for present anthropology and a stimulus for philosophical and theological reflections.
