Abstract

This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the studies on the service origin effect, whether being empirical research or studies of other kinds. When it comes to studying the product and service origin effect in general, product-focused papers significantly outnumber the service-focused ones, which includes literature reviews, among others. For this reason, and due to the fact that today's globalized market implies the exchange and free flow not only of products, but also of services from all over the world, the aim of this paper was to provide a detailed insight into the studies on the service origin effect. Through the analysis of the product and service origin effect, 104 papers that study the service origin effect were identified, and on this basis the recommendations for future research are presented.
