Abstract
The international year of the family is closely connected with the realization of children’s rights in general, particularly with the legal position of children within the family. The international documents regarding the issues of children’s rights contain the provisions directly connected with their rights to development. The rights that children exercise within the family are of crucial importance for proper development of children because the family is the most important environment for every child. Attention is therefore given to legal interactions that the child established with other family members (parents in the firs place). Along the lines of some future actions, there are new mechanisms and institutes that will help to achieve a concrete protection of children’s rights.
