Abstract

Reducing human impact on the environment through holistic approaches to resource and waste
management is essential for sustainable development. Effective hazardous waste management and
sustainable corporate strategies create competitive advantages and increase the long-term value of
companies through optimisation, cost reduction, and reputation enhancement. This paper provides
insight into the current hazardous waste management at INA d.d. through an analysis of waste
treatment costs, waste volume, unit treatment costs, and describes methods of waste disposal, as well
as insourcing and outsourcing approaches and their implications for the company's operations. The
contribution of this paper is twofold. It provides an overview of existing corporate processes within
companies in the Republic of Croatia and sheds light on the challenges companies face in pursuing
effective hazardous waste management.
