The statistical scatter of breakdown voltages of transformer oil - Part II

Abstract

The second part of the article is about coefficients of variation (CV%) of breakdown voltage (BDV) of transformer oil and discusses the voltage rise effect and the gap spacing effect. CV% decreases as the rate of voltage rises, but there is insufficient data to quantify this phenomenon. CV% decreases linearly with the logarithm of gap spacing (approximately 3 times per order of magnitude increase in gap).
