Abstract

Measuring range of motion is crucial in physiotherapy. The aim was to evaluate a custom MediaPipe app for markerless kinematics against a goniometer. Five movements were tested on 3 subjects. The app showed high accuracy for movements of shoulder abduction and hip retroflexion (MAE<3°), acceptable for movements of hip and knee flexion (MAE<7°) but unacceptable for the movement of elbow flexion (MAE=16°). In conclusion, 2D computer vision shows potential but suffers from foreshortening.
