Abstract

In 2000, after being asked by Archaeological museum in Zadar to separate and restore a stone altar from the late Antiquity defensive wall, we undertook all the necessary activities of taking and relocating it to our stone- restoration workshop. Fractured at a number of parts this cream-to brownish-coloured 2,600 kg stone block was cut in the local quarry in the Roman time. The block was washed, stabilized, integrated and consolidated; preservation being done at a degree of the find. After the 5-month restoration the altar was brought to Zavičajni muzej in Benkovac.
