Washing machine polypropylene tub – case of an advanced polymer product

Abstract
The paper presents the applicability of polymer materials and composites in white goods industry using a practical example of a washing machine plastic tub. The specificity of the washing tub is based on simultaneous and time-irregular thermo-mechanical loads, which should be tuned with very tight quality requirements of the final product – the washing machine. The paper also presents the reasons and advantages as well as experiences and principles of introducing polymer materials in industrial production process of high quality and reliable products. Apart from the state-of-theart technology of polymer materials, the paper provides also an explanation of the expected development guidelines for advanced polymer materials and the related composites.
