Christian Spirituality in Atmosphere of Modern Pluralism

Abstract

Starting from sociological analysis of contemporary culture
which sees plurality as a key idea of today's societv, the text tries to
explain in which way theology and spirituality can respond do the
challenges hidden in modern pluralism. The first part of this work is
about the definition of Christian spirituality and necessity of the
faith's introversion. Respecting the spiritual needs of contemporary
people, the future of spirituality will depend on the issue in what
extent it is going to be experiental, evolutionary and practical.
Christian spiritual experience of God has been permanently directed
to Christ's human nature and to the Gospel as an alternative.
In the second part, the author points out, in a more specific way,
how criticallv-creative spiritually of authentic Christian inspiration
can help to heal and integrate theologically the prevailing tendencies
of today's culture. For this purpose, four focuses of the spirituality of
future are named: recovery of human relationships, therapeutic
dimension of faith, social efforts and interceding for justice, and
cultivation of contemplative dimension of life. In conclusion, it is
necessary to connect the mystical and prophetic dimension of
Christian faith.
