Abstract

Pope Benedict XVI wanted to come in Holy Land as a pilgrim. A pilgrim is a believer who goes in the holy places and through the reading of the biblical texts, the encounter with saintly men and women who are living in these places, and through the contact with the site itself, makes also contact with the Saint who revealed himself in these holy places, The pope, tough, was a different kind of pilgrim: everywhere he was going, the center of attraction was him, not the holy sites. His pilgrimage brought to light mankind's longer for the recognition of his own sufferings, his thirst for truth and justice, his need to be strengthened in his own faith and above all the human desire to become in contact with the Saint through encounter with men and women who sanctified themselves at His contact.
