Abstract
As a book, or more exactly a librarv which preserves in the
scriptural form the fundamental experience of God's relationship with
Israel and the former Church, the Bible gets its phisiognomv in the
Church's milieu and continues to live in It. We have treated the theme
"the Bible in the life of the Church" in a svnchronous way, following
the instructions of the II Vatican Council, with a dvachronous
digressions sometime. We tried to notice the Church's consciousness
and the faith of Its members as regards the Bible's importance in the
actual historical moment of the Church's life, leaning on the most
recent ecclesiastical documents as regards the Bible. First of ali we
examined the function, significance and importance of the Bible in the
liturgv, particularlv in view of the proclamation of word and the
homilv. Then we have observed the presence of the Bible in the
Theologv and the presence of the Theologv in the Bible, with the
patricular relief on the Bible in the contemporarv exegesis. On the
third place we have treated the Bible in view of the service to the word in the form of the sermon and the catechesis. At the end, together with the brief historical glance on the lecture of the Bible in the Church, we have put in relief the two most important views of the
todav's lecture - in a communitv or in groups and the personal
spirutal lecture - through which the God's word in the today's
occasions becomes the most frequently a nourishment to the human
špirit, a fundament of his meditations, of his prayer's dialogue with
the living God, of his contemplation and determination of the whole
life.
