Abstract

The construction of the Vukovar's old water tower, built in 1913 by Banheyer & Son based on the design of the Vukovar engineer Fran Funtak, is described in the paper. It is a fine specimen of the late secession architecture in Croatia. The water tower is made of reinforced-concrete and was built according to construction principles that were considered highly advanced at that time. Its capacity is 50,000 litres and it is 19,00 metres high. The water tower was damaged during the 1991-95 war and was rebuilt in accordance with the original plans immediately after the end of hostilities.
