Miroslav Pospiš ; Hrvatski savez udruga cerebralne i dječje paralize

Abstract

In this review we considered: a genetic and neuropsychological approach and the educational aspects of Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder-ADHD) In the first part of the review the focus is on the genetic and neuropsychological aspects of the disorder, whilst the second part covers educational related topics such as school-based interventions, teachers' attitudes to ADHD and ADHD in young adults.
ADHD has been shown to be a highly hereditary disorder and molecular genetic approaches have become a major focus of research.
Three subtypes of ADHD are described : a predominantly inattentive type, predominantly hyperactive / impulsive type and the combined type.
Executive functions are in the focus of the neuropsychological disturbances in ADHD.
Executive function refers to a range of control processes that allow the individual to demonstrate goal-directed behaviour.
Inhibition impairment is also a neuropsychological disturbance in ADHD.
