Abstract

Since the companies competence for TQM implementation has never been seriously examined in Europe, this is the first attempt of that kind. The investigation had several fundamental goals: First, to determine whether there is a statistically significant relationship between the company competence for the implementation of TQM and the business efficiency. Second, to investigate whether there is a significant difference of company competence for the implementation of TQM in companies with ISO certificates in comparation to those without it. The research results showed that there is a statistically significant relationship between the company competence for the implementation of TQM and business efficiency Also, it was confirmed that each of the categories of training a company for the implementation of TQM did not equally affect the business efficiency. However, the results reveal that the possession of quality certificates does not significantly affect their competence for TQM implementation and that the companies in the process of acquiring ISO certificates are as competent for TQM implementation as those which have already acquired them.
