Abstract

Everything this text researches is related to visual artistic culture and since the basis is the medium of television as a bearer of information and forms of behaviour, or accommodation, living and settlement, especially for the younger generation, it intentionally categorizes the issues dealt with in the field of visual media design.
The paper describes research undertaken amongst pupils at the Fine Art School in Pula and students studying pre-school education at the Juraj Dobrila University in Pula. The research is based on the fact that in the Big Brother Show program items of industrial design are used which, in terms of their design and quality, have no basis either in the Croatian heritage nor any artistic quality in terms of healthy living accommodation. Most frequently these are cheap mass produced products, and they send the wrong message to the young population and consumers – the concept of universal, badly designed and soulless furniture, fittings, pots and pans and their combination with each other, which can only be described as kitsch, with the exception of some individually well designed parts of the interior, where it is however impossible to recognize the work of any Croatian designer or architect. The need is pointed out to use uniquely designed interiors and artistic products.
