Abstract

Although they belong to unusual, non-traditional and rare causative agents of prostatitis, sexually transmitted bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis and Ureaplasma urealyticum are important and significant causative agents of prostate infection. Sumamed® is the drug of choice in the treatment of prostatitis due to C. trachomatis and U. urealyticum. The recommended total dose is 4.0 to 4.5 g administered intermittently
over 3-4 weeks.
