Abstract

Carl Rogers is a well known American clinical psychologist as
well as humanistic one. He is a psychiatrist who advocates the
theory of personal Inner energy' which enables self-realization of a
person. Robert Carkhuff is also a famous American psychologist and
psychiatrist. Althought less known abroad, he is not unknown in
Europe. Carkhuff is the most famous Rogers' student who did not
follow his teacher. He has been making research in clinical psycho-
logy on his own at the Univerity of Wisconsin. He puts an ernpha-
ses on the 'process of learning* or on the effort expected from a
respective person on his or her way of self-realization, as well as on
the Initiative of the terapist' in the therpeutic process.
The dispute between the two scientists is based on their
common, as well as individual psycotherapeutic approach, both in
theory and in therapeutic process.
