Diseases and humans “eternal rivals” health service in Bjelovar and Križevci areas 1874-1884. Contributions

Abstract
The author describes sanitary conditions in villages and cities of Bjelovar and Križevci and their surroundings from 1877 to 1890 as recorded in ‘Liečnički vjestnik’ ( ‘Medical journal’ of the time) and some other sources. The paper stresses the problems of modern health institutions organization, hospital treatment and medical care in the area and gives statistical tables presenting mortality rate caused by various diseases at the time, especially among infants.
