Abstract
In this essey the author, by using the synehronical exegesis,
analyses Mark's description of Jesus' prayer in Gethsemane in the
global context of his Gospel. The point in question is about the most
complete description of Jesus' prayer in the Mark's Gospel, beeause
we learn the circumstances, purpose, attitude in the prayer and
content of Jesus' prayer.
Aware of immediacy of his suffering, Jesus retreats with his
disciples in the suitable ambiance for prayer, where to three of his
chosen disciples, who were witnesses of his glory, reveals his huma-
nity as a reason of retreat in the solitary prayer. Spiritual condition,
that he experiences, determines both way and context of his prayer.
The filial loyalty to God's plans and the persuasion in the salutary will
of Father, on one hand, and the human resistence in front of
suffering, on the other hand, determines completely the content of his turning to Father, with which he searches for clearness and security, before he accepts completely the will of Father. The author comes to the conclusion that the prayer of Getsemane represents the most clear expression of Jesus' self-awarness about God's filial, about his special relation with God and toward God.
