Abstract

Twenty-five years ago, the Second Vatican Council issued a decree entitled Inter Mirifica on the subject of the mass media. Although this decree was primarily directed at Catholics involved with the mass media, it also contained insights and messages of general value and interest. It declares tha "the content of what is communicated must be true and — within the limits set by justice and charity — complete". Pope John Paul II encourages theologians to be aware of the mass media and their role in spreading the Gospel.
